The Spa at King Pacific Lodge creates a sophisticated experience for guests in the wild, drawing upon the latest trends in the international spa world while adapting local healing lore and soothing products from the surrounding ocean and rainforest.

As with all aspects of the King Pacific Lodge experience, The Spa program is a reflection of the Lodge's geographic location in the heart of British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest, the cultural traditions of the Gitga'at First Nation who have been the stewards of the area for centuries, the Japanese ownership, and the Lodge's mission to provide a one-of-a-kind, unforgettable and ecologically responsible vacation getaway.

The Spa at King Pacific Lodge opened in 2001 and virtually overnight became the activity most enjoyed by guests. There's nothing like a relaxing massage or rejuvenating treatment after a day of exploring nature. Built of local fir with driftwood accents, the elegant simplicity of the two treatment rooms recall the traditional serenity of Japanese culture.

The spa director, who is also a certified reflexologist, has designed a series of signature King Pacific Lodge treatments as well as created local adaptations of popular international treatments. For the Wolf Track Hot Stone Wrap, stones are used that the spa director specifically chose from local rivers and streams for their soothing and healing qualities. The Seaweed Body Wrap harvests an abundant local product while breaking new ground - by including a kayaking element and well as a tasting of the chief ingredient. Paying homage to the bounty of the sea, its goodness long recognized and harvested by the Gitga'at, the treatment begins with a kayak trip through the kelp beds at low tide to view the natural abundance of the intertidal zones - followed back at The Spa with a cocooning in a remoisturizing, toxin-extracting seaweed-infused body wrap and a relaxation massage, concluding with a sampling of seaweeds to delight the palate.

For the romantic, 'Starry Night' begins with a cozy blanket, a bottle of fine wine, and a peaceful rowboat trip for two around the harbour to enjoy star gazing in an environment where the stars do not compete with harsh city lights, the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye, shooting stars are frequent, and the awe-inspiring northern lights may appear. Upon return to the lodge, they enjoy the harmony of a couples massage.

Princess Royal Hot Stone Massage Naturally smooth stones have been collected from the ocean floor and river beds around Princess Royal Island to make this massage a very special treatment. Over 70 stones are heated, oiled and used to massage the body. As each muscle releases, stones are placed along the body to soothe and complete the treatment. CDN $170

Hot Stone with Deep Tissue Massage A truly unique experience. This combination of heated stones and therapeutic massage allows the therapist to access deep layers of tension build-up and scar tissue. Reflexology & Leg Massage Reflexology is a practice of healing that restores energetic balance, instills a relaxed body and feels absolutely terrific. It is a process of stimulating a pattern of pressure points and meridians over the feet that correspond to the rest of the body. Raindrop Therapy Raindrop therapy is a treatment that helps to restore energetic balance and body alignment. EXFOLIATIONS AND BODY WRAPS

All of our body treatments focus on deep relaxation, maximizing the benefits from quality products that are indigenous to the West Coast area. Complete body detoxification through mineralization.  Any treatment can be extended with any length of massage for an additional charge.

Golden Moor Mud Body Wrap This therapeutic mud is an organic collection of plants and earth that has relieved muscles for thousands of years. Begin with a full body exfoliation before the body is covered in warm, healing mud. A series of linens are tucked snuggly around the body while you relax into a twenty minute head and neck massage. Emerge from the wrap for a hot shower and return for an additional hydrating lotion application to finish. CDN $185

Outercoast Seaweed Body Wrap Beginning with a Rockweed exfoliation, these combinations of seaweeds are freshly harvested from the Pacific Ocean, before an Alaria body mask is applied. Loaded with vitamins and minerals that detoxify, hydrate and tone the skin, this treatment finishes with an application of Wild Seaweed firming gel. CDN $185

Canadian Shield A session designed to focus on the core of the body, specifically suited to those who suffer from neck and back pain. It makes use of some of our finest resources: warm mud, hot stones, and therapeutic massage. The heated stones and deep tissue massage penetrate quickly to the deeper muscles along the spine and shoulders. Warm mud is applied to the back to soothe vertebral joints and the costal region while the neck and head are massaged. CDN $185

Sea Salt Scrub and Massage This refreshing exfoliation combines essential oils with the healing properties of Pacific Sea Salt. The treatment promotes skin rejuvenation, toxin and metabolite removal, and increases circulation for overall health. Pacific Sampler For those having difficulty deciding, this treatment offers a little bit of everything. Start with a full body exfoliation with Sea Salt to leave your skin smooth and fresh. Seaweed Experience By kayak or boat begin with a tour of the seaweed gardens. Exposed layers of seaweed also reveal the inter-tidal lives that inhabit the shorelines at low tide. You will learn to identify different species, how they are used, how they are related to First Nations history, and how each of them can benefit you in your everyday routine. Following your tour, experience a submersion of nourishment in the Spa with an Outercoast Seaweed Body Wrap and Massage. Pacific Seaweeds are used in the form of a Rockweed Body Scrub, an Alaria Body Mask and a concentrated blend in the Seaweed Firming Gel. And during your next meal taste the remarkable delicacies of fresh and dried seaweeds. The day ends with an understanding of an indigenous resource paramount to life on Princess Royal Island.

A Starry Sky Experience In the hours following dinner, one last adventure awaits for you in Barnard Harbour. A starry night canoe prepared for two with a thermos of mint hot chocolate, two King Pacific Lodge toques and a map of the universe. Make a wish upon a star but don't go too far, your return to the lodge at 10:00 p.m. will ensure that you are in your room and on the table just in time for a candle lit couples massage.
